Why I Started Building Websites in Grand Junction
Too many solid GJ companies are held back by slow, dated sites. The work is great, but the website loads slow, buries the services, and makes it hard to call. Meanwhile the phone rings for a competitor with a worse reputation and a better site. That bothers me.
I started Chuckwalla Digital back in 2014, and in 2021 Kim and I moved the business, and our family, to Grand Junction. We are not a satellite office for an agency in some other city. We live here, we shop at the same businesses we build sites for, and when something breaks you call me, not a ticket queue.
What Makes Our Grand Junction Web Design Different
Every site we build starts from the same question: what does this business need the website to do? For most Grand Junction businesses the answer is simple. Show up when people search, whether that is Google or ChatGPT, explain the services clearly, and make it easy to call or book. So that is what we build for.
Fast on mobile. Most of your visitors are on a phone, often standing in a driveway or a parking lot. Our sites are built to load in a couple of seconds on a weak signal, because that is real life in Mesa County.
Clear service pages. One page per service, written in plain language, with the towns you serve spelled out. This is the foundation for ranking in Google, and it is also what AI tools pull from when someone asks them for a recommendation. Most DIY sites fall down here.
Built to convert. Click to call buttons, short forms, reviews where people can see them, and a layout that guides visitors to the next step instead of making them hunt for it.
Built the right way for your business. Most of our sites are WordPress, which means you own the site, the domain, and the content, and you are never locked in. For smaller local sites we also build lightweight static sites that load instantly and can be hosted for free. Grand Valley Can Blasters is a recent one we built for a Grand Junction business. Either way, if you ever leave us, you take everything with you. That has always felt like the only honest way to do this.
The work has held up. We won a Netty Award for our skilled trades design work, and our clients have kept us at 5.0 stars on Google. Awards are nice, but the reviews from local business owners matter more to me.
How We Build Your Site
Our process is simple and you will always know where things stand.
- Strategy call. Thirty minutes, free. We talk about your business, your customers, and what the site needs to accomplish. If we are not the right fit, I will tell you.
- Structure and content. We map the pages, write the content with you, and plan the search strategy before any design happens. Words first, design second.
- Design. Kim leads design. She builds a look that fits your brand and your customers, not a template that looks like everyone else in town.
- Build and test. We build the site, test it on real phones, and check speed, forms, and tracking before anything goes live.
- Launch, then 90 days of SEO. Launch day is the start, not the finish. Every build includes 90 days of ongoing SEO work to make sure you actually rank on Google and start showing up in AI search, because a site nobody finds is just an expensive brochure.
Most local builds take two to four weeks from kickoff to launch. The biggest variable is content, so if you can make decisions quickly, we can move quickly.
Real Results for Real Grand Junction Businesses
I would rather show you outcomes than talk about design trends.
Snooks Bottom Barbecue came to us with an outdated site that did not match how good the food is. We rebuilt it from the ground up, and the new site turned into a steady source of catering inquiries.
Stephen at Grand Junction Cleaning Services had five-star work and no visibility. We fixed the structure of his site, tuned his Google Business Profile, and focused on the searches that matter. Traffic rose 91 percent and the phone started ringing.
The Cowan Home Team needed their site to compete in a crowded real estate market. We rebuilt the foundation and paired it with local SEO, and they now win searches that used to go to the big agencies.
Jesse at SuperFast Kitchen and Bath called me about his website, but what he really needed was leads. The new site became the engine for a marketing program that keeps his crews booked.
What a Website Costs
I believe in straight answers on pricing, so here it is. For local businesses, an SEO-optimized site build with Google Business Profile optimization runs between $1,500 and $2,000. That price includes 90 days of ongoing SEO work after launch. We do not go live and leave you high and dry. We stay on it until you are ranking on Google and showing up where people search now, including AI tools like ChatGPT. Larger builds and custom projects get a fixed quote after our strategy call.
Ongoing support after those 90 days is optional. Our care plan is $150 a month and covers hosting, security, updates, and edits, so there is always someone watching your site. And ask us about free hosting. Some of our builds can be hosted at no cost, and we give our clients that option because it is your site, not ours. No surprise invoices. Ever.
Why Grand Junction Businesses Choose Us
There are good designers in this valley, and I am happy to share the market with them. Here is what our clients tell us made the difference.
We are actually local. When you search for web design here, a lot of what comes up is agencies from somewhere else with a Grand Junction page. We are based here, our clients are here, and our reputation lives here.
Design and search work together. Kim handles design and I handle SEO and development, so the site looks right and ranks right. You do not have to hire two companies and hope they cooperate.
You keep what you pay for. Your site, your domain, your content. Always.
We answer the phone. Ask any of our clients. The 27 reviews on our Google profile say more about how we work than anything I could write here.
